'Abusing' or 'Using' Creativity

Hi there,

Have you ever wonder why your children always watch cartoons? And then he use his toys to block your way? Before he get to sleep want to be told a fantasy story? Later next month you have to re-paint your wall because your son just graffiti-ed it? YEAH. Simple and short answer. They are creative.

It is just that as we, human being, grow older we seems to be more logic when it comes to any judgement. That is why when you watched back the Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse movie you do not have interest anymore. You are tend to watch more action-packed or thriller movie because it seems more logical.

'The sky is the limit', says Ssangyong Chief Executive, Kim Suk-Jun. But, if he is creative enough, he should think of a building a tower that is hung to the moon. Maybe we should consider abusing outer space instead of abusing our own land. 

For me, sky is not the limit. The song 'Talking to the Moon' by Bruno Mars gives me and idea how we should abuse the outer space which is created by God. Everything has its own function. That song tells us how to communicate with our girlfriend by abusing moon. It seems poetic so some people do not really concern about the content. But I do.

You know when you watch a Hindi Movie, sometimes there will be a scene where a boyfriend had to send his girlfriend before boarding. Then, after the GF walked up to the train, the GF cant be seen anymore because the train is too crowded.

That's what happen to  internet nowadays which is too crowded. You want to market your product, but how to make it noticeable by the audience? You have to be CREATIVE!! I was just thinking that if we could abuse our moon, we could just point a high-power laser to the moon and advertise what we want so that everyone on earth notice that. I'm just thinking. Just thinking.

P/S: The word 'abusing' seems harsh today, let's read again this article by changing them to 'using'

Lesson 5: How to get rich fast?

Have you ever read this kind of statement all over internet?

"Cara Terbaru Dan Termudah Sekali Untuk Buat Duit Di Internet Dengan Hanya Beberapa Klik Sahaja Bagi Menjana Pendapatan Berterusan Tanpa Modal Walaupun Sesen! Itu Janji Saya..."

If it is that easy, why is that the total personal income in Malaysia is still low? Their reason in the website is that most of the Malays have that bad perception towards that kind of thing. Yeah, how can people like me trust this thing? Even up until now I cannot ever see one of Malaysian really succeed in this thing. All I could see is just bunch of ppl taking pictures in front of a Fairlady to prove that they excel.

And the answer to this question, no. You wont get rich fast. HAHA. Because what, you dont start your own business. To share my experience, I got a financial problem during my study period. So, I have to set a goal so that I can gain some money but at the same time I can focus on my study. Then I started to think of selling something simple that I can target to the audience in my university.

Well, they are students. They need laptops. They have internet. Of course, like sex, people use condom as protection. So for their beloved laptops, they do need Antivirus. So I started to find my old contacts which there was this time I got this reseller that sells a very low price for that product. Then with the calculated risk and some budget constraint, I buy 8 products which cost me around RM200.

As a disorganized person, I realized that I only set a goal to finish my product but never plan how to sell it. Then I started to think again and again. I have the feelings that it is not practical to put the poster around the hostel. I am afraid that poster would be remove immediately after I put it. So, I have to think the alternative.

Long story short, in my university, I created this server whereby I shared some files that are useful to other students. I believe that is a good platform for me to advertise my products. They have to pass my advertisement before they can proceed to the desired page. So it is a win-win situation right. Surprisingly, I made around RM800 just for that invisible product. Plus, I could treat my stomach with awesome foods with that extra money.

I also use e-mail to spam to other friends. I believe it is a win-win situation also right? It is because the reader has the right to read it or not. Up to them. But, believe it or not, I got this computer service vendor that has become one of my loyal customer. Yeah, great business after that.

If you are reading this, no, you wont get rich. Its simply because you are reading but not selling anything. Just get up from your lazy chair and do something. Opportunity never sleeps.

Lesson 4: How to surprise your friend by tuning your own guitar

Dont be afraid of this joker. Yes, it is me back then in my university. Well, I guess I am not that talented, but dedicated enough to win the Championship in the Euphonious 2011.

Back to business, my friend, I know some of you love to play guitar. Even when I was in the hostel, I found out some of my friends have great voice and skilled in guitar. But, honestly sometimes i feel that something is buzzing annoyingly around my ears. What is it?

TUNING!!

Yeah, It's so annoying and I'm very sensitive about it. Till today, still got some of my friends keep asking for tuning up their guitars. It's ok, for the sake of my ears, I'll do it for free. HAHA.

However, this post is intended to show you how I do it myself. All you need is a tuner. If you dont have it, like myself I must have a computer that has a good speaker and internet connection. Of course, your greatest-God-creation ears must fit and sensitive enough.

Then you can start tune your strings from E to E by using this site. All the best. You can take your time and learn yourself before posting any cover to youtube. It is considerable if you dont tune your voice, but not if you dont tune your guitar.

Lesson 3: How to save your money on house surveillance system

Guess what? tonight might be a huge raining season all over twitter and Facebook among MUFC fans and Liverpool fans. Based on the recent form of Manchester United, I strongly believe that they will make Liverpool fans cry all night long.

Anyway, my house was involved with robbery last 3 years. It had became to my attention that I have to ensure the safety of my house but at the same time ECONOMICAL! Then, I was asking myself. Is there any CCTV that not cost more than 100 bucks out there? The answer is, no.

So back to the function itself, it must consists of recorder, camera and movement sensor. Then, I googled myself and found this article that writes about "web cam surveillance system". Guess what, that is brilliant. I am used to skype with my girlfriend with that camera until that point of time, I realized that item can actually serves more than that. Then, I started further research on this topic then finally this is the outcome:

1. The items needed are Webcam, Surveillance software, and storage in which in this case I used my computer.
2. The cost is less than hundred. You have to think about the webcam itself. Of course the higher the quality, higher the price isn't it? But, you dont have to buy HD one just for this function. Save that for your girlfriend. hehe.
   
3. You can just DIY, no need extra cost for installation. ECONOMICAL right.
4. There is a function whereby it detects the movement and then straight away send the captured picture to your email. PRACTICAL.

Then I did it. With my own hand. This hand had saved my family until today. For the record, I am very proud of myself. Even, Some of my moms employer would like to offer me the installation service at their home. They got money so they dont want to install by themselves. HAHA. Well, that is business. Life is so wonderful if you got knowledge.

Lastly, I can smell the spirit of Man Utd players tonight. Wish them all the best at Anfield.

Lesson 2: How to start a new budget hotel

Hi there, I guess it is not so long from last post. Well, I am an active lowyat forumer. So last week I went to this topic. Since I want to venture in business later, so I find this idea is quite interesting. You know why, simple. Converting from a shop lot into a budget hotel is a genius. From my point of view;

1. It is cheap compared to buy/rent a new one.
2. Already a hotspot. (got cybercafes, mamak stalls, business nearby so that you dont have predict what will happens to that place)

Basically, what I am sharing here is just a summary of what I understand. If you do not understand you can go to that site and see it yourself.

Moving on to the real business, first you have to start a feasibility studies:

1. Is your location a tourism spot?
   
2. What would be your potential audience/target? (business traveler, tourist, lonely guy.. )
3. How much is the shop lot rent? What would it be next year?
4. What would be the average price for a room at your area?

Then, proceed to the planning stage:

1. Hire an architect to draw for your new hotel. They know the building plan by law. It is best if you have friend or colleague that already long in that business. Dont forget to submit to the local authority for approval.
2. Dont wait for the approval, just proceed with other planning. Make sure you plan it well. For example, do not plan a big lobby since it is a budget hotel not a grand one. So it should be enough if you can have a receptionist table and 3 chairs in front of it and dont dream to have a lift/escalator with that kind of space.
   
3. The next step would be the Civil and Structural engineering works. I am pretty sure, I got a lot of friends in this business since they were my classmates! This step is to ensure the structural integrity is reliable and again and again for approval.
4. While C&S is doing his works, you can start with Electrical works as well. Let them plan. Get it approved or else you are doomed.
5. After a thousand approval from Bomba or anything relevant, now you can start your construction/renovation.
   
6. In terms of cost, lets assume: Renovation works would cost *RM20-25K per room
7. Say, 15 rooms so it would be RM 375K
8. For the profits, multiply the number of rooms with the rates per day. Dont forget to add the occupancy rate in your equation since there will not be the case of 100% occupancy all the time. Find yearly revenue.
   
9. From that revenue, project your percentage of net profit. Say, 20% by deducting all the operating cost. Then do the break even analysis or payback period.
   
10. The rest, based on your creativity.

Well this is the example of a converted shop lot to a hotel. Amazing right!

Perhaps one day, after I played around this budget hotel business, I could have this:

Lesson 1: How to bypass university's internet for downloading from filehostings

I know most of us are aware about SOPA. If you don't know, you can find everything here. Yes, it is annoying since most of the filehosts are down. One of the giant filehost that was down last week was Megaupload. I am sure everyone is familiar with it. It has become a major eye-opener to the serious-shit downloader like me. Back then in my university, I used to download lots of HD movies. And believe it or not, I used to get this speed.

Of course, this is just a typical speed. During non busy hours I got about 5-6 MB/sec. FYI, at first it is really hard for me to download since my university blocked everything under the sun. I asked everyone. Surprisingly, no one would like to share. So I did my own research. Well, these are some of the findings.

1. First, download from website that allows SSL encryption, or simple to say website that starts with HTTPS:// .
2. Always search for new sites that offer multi-filehost free service like " http://10s.asia/ " since most of them are not yet blocked by the network technician. Bear in mind most of the sites are from Vietnam. (I find it difficult to understand their language)
3. You can use TOR for torrent download.
4. I use IP address instead of website address.

For me, I used the first option since it is the best solution for me even though it is not free. If you want to get a close review to the option that I have been used, just go to this site and read the testimonials. On my side, so far I have downloaded up to 1 TeraByte and it is purely using my university internet. I think it is fair for me since I paid in advance for the fees.
